On December 25, 2013 we bicycled on the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park Bike Trail. The trail is located in Florida, near Tampa and is 6.5 miles long. It connects to the Suncoast trail which runs along rt. 589. You can reach the Starkey Wilderness park by taking either rt 19, 589 or rt 75 and exiting onto rt 54. Turn north onto Starkey Blvd and the entrance is a few miles up and on your right. There is a $2 charge to enter the park and you can use a credit card or cash. There are a number of parking areas along the road beyond the information center. Be aware that Florida law requires bicyclists to wear helmets.
